Merino wool scarves and neck warmers
The neck is one of the fastest-cooling parts of the body, because the skin there is thin and large blood vessels run close to the surface. A merino wool scarf insulates heat while still breathing, so it doesn't feel stifling when you step indoors.

Why merino wool in a scarf?
A scarf touches the skin of the face and neck, which is more sensitive than the rest of the body. Merino fibre is fine and flexible, so it doesn't prickle the way coarse wool does. Merino wool is also naturally antibacterial: the fibre evaporates odour molecules, so a scarf stays fresh without frequent washing.
Scarf or neck gaiter?
A scarf is long and wraps around the neck. You adjust the warmth by the number of turns, and a scarf also works as an accessory over a coat.
A neck gaiter is a seamless tube that stays in place when you move and fits under a jacket collar. It suits sport and outdoor activities better.
Does a merino wool scarf work in autumn too?
Yes. Merino wool regulates temperature in both directions, so a thin scarf works as early as September, not only in freezing weather. Thicker models are the winter choice.
How do you care for a scarf?
Air it after wearing – most of the time that's enough. When a wash is needed: 30°C on a wool or delicates programme, wool detergent with a pH of 7 or below, no fabric softener and no tumble dryer. Dry flat so the knit doesn't stretch. Some models are hand wash only – check the care label.
Responsibly produced merino wool
